Roadmap

Conceived to alleviate the stress students experience when moving abroad: personality based room matching — powered by a warm, GenAI-backed onboarding coach. Contributing to a circular student housing ecosystem.

International students navigating relocation often face fragmented housing services, resulting in stress and overwhelm. I set the full-cycle product design and strategy for Roomsie — a multi-layered AI experience blending NLP-driven housing support, city onboarding, AI-powered housing coach.

Technical contributions and outcomes included:

Defined a modular MVP architecture combining LLM API orchestration (GPT-3.5-turbo for chat) with intent detection and a custom recommendation engine

Authored system prompts and engineered AI guardrails to prevent hallucinations, bias, brand endorsements, or overstepping emotional boundaries (e.g., legal, medical advice)

Mapped the end-to-end AI touchpoints, data flow, and state transitions across student onboarding: from profile creation and intent capture to personalized recommendations and social integration nudges

Introduced success metrics such as Monthly Active Users (MAU), recommendation conversion rates, and session duration across buddy features

Modeled latency tradeoffs, proposing low-latency inference stacks (OpenAI API for MVP, with migration path to hosted open-source models like Mistral or LLaMA 3)

In a follow-up AI Evaluation & GTM Strategy, I validated feasibility and scalability:

Designed a lightweight human-in-the-loop QA loop for fine-tuning response quality and improving prompt accuracy based on user feedback

Defined monetization paths through ethical API partnerships with housing platforms, universities, and service providers — excluding all direct brand placement to maintain coach neutrality
